1. I want grants for research
2. I want to take the research to market
TePP supports faculty start-ups under S3T category. Intellectual Property at academic institutes is generally an outcome of cumulative work done by faculty and students. Often it is assigned to the institute. To be eligible for support under TePP, the faculty must have freedom to commercialize the technology. A No Objection Certificate from the institute is mandatory. Research to product to solution to revenue is a long road. See `Stage gate Model of innovation’ and learn to dump Idea. S3T application needs business plan. See `Typical Business plan format’ and read `Fundamentals of VC funding’. There is also requirement that faculty takes leave and spends sufficient amount of time (full time) on the project. To encourage faculty of lesser known institutes, TePP can consider supporting them under TPF category.
3. I want to complete the development project as I see a great potential in transferring technology to industry.
TePP does not support technology transfer of institutes. If the technology commercialization rights are with the faculty innovator and not with the institute, then TePP can consider supporting the faculty innovator either under TPF or S3T depending on stage of development. There is need for involving technology buyer in the process.
