Jeff Bezos becomes the world’s richest person, says Forbes

Amazon hits a sixer yet again!

Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO is now the world’s richest man as per a report by Forbes. It was after Amazon's share price an all time high. This enabled him to beat Microsoft founder Bill Gates, as per an estimation by Forbes magazine. As per the data, Bezos was at a net worth of $90.5 billion, ahead of $90 billion for Gates.

17 per cent of the equity shares are owned by Amazon. It expanded as an online retailer to a multi-performing tech firm in cloud computing, online video, computing hardware and artificial intelligence.

Amazon shares were up by 1.7 per cent at $1070.72. It has risen to about 24 per cent since the last four months. This added about $17 billion to the net value of 53-year-old Jeff.

Forbes mentioned Gates to be the richest person in its annual rankings in March since the last four years and 18 of the past 22 years. Gates was overtaken by Carlos Slim, a Mexican telecom magnate from 2010 to 2013.

Mark Zuckerberg lists among the billionaires with an estimated worth of approximately $72.9 billion.

While Bezos has his major wealth in Amazon, he is also the owner of Washington Post newspaper and private space firm Blue Origin.
