By Gairika Mitra

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently been making its presence felt in people’s lives, and match-making is another area in which AI has shown its usefulness. Betterhalf.ai is an online platform that specialises in finding suitable marriage partners by matching common characteristics between people registered on the platform.

The matchmakers recently raised a sum of USD 500k in seed funding through angel investors from the likes of Shailesh Rao, former Managing Director, Google India; Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumni like Vinay Subramanian, and former investment director at Flipkart; Rehan A. Khan, investor, FirstPenguin Capital, and other senior leaders from Google, Uber and Amazon.

Founder, Betterhalf.ai, Pawan Gupta, says, “This is for the first time that Shailesh Rao invested in a company that is outside his immediate network. This fact makes us immensely happy and proud.”

Plans of using the funds raised

Betterhalf aims to use the raised funds in building up their tech product, and also better their product and engineering aspects. They are also looking forward to kick-start their journey by promoting social media campaigns and building a strong female community.

Advice for wannapreneurs

Pawan said, “If you have conquered the basics, it’s time to start. Start attracting a team, that is intellectually superior to you, and can create a better picture for your funding goals. With the right courage, there’s no stopping your venture from getting on the path to success!”
